1. What are Animals?
Welcome to our very first fun adventure! Today, we are going to learn all about the wonderful, amazing world of animals. Did you know that animals are living beings, just exactly like you and me? They need to eat yummy food, drink clean water, and get lots of sleep to grow up strong and healthy. Animals live absolutely everywhere all around us! If you look outside, you might see them in the tall green trees. Some live far away in the deep, dark jungles, some swim all day in the cool blue water, and some even live right inside our very own homes as our best friends! Some animals are giant and heavy, while other animals are so tiny they can fit right in the palm of your little hand. Let us explore the different kinds of animals together!
2. Big Animals
Imagine walking through a giant, green forest. You might see some very, very big animals! These animals are huge, brave, and incredibly strong. Because they are so large, they need lots of open space to run around, so they usually live far away in wild forests, wide grassy plains, or thick, leafy jungles.
- The Lion is very brave and is called the king of the jungle! He has a big, fluffy golden ring of hair around his head called a mane.
- A Tiger is a very beautiful big cat. It has bright orange fur covered in cool black stripes, and it loves to sneak quietly through the tall grass.
- The amazing Elephant is the biggest animal on land! It has huge, floppy ears that wave like fans, and a very long grey nose called a trunk that it uses to drink water.
- A huge, furry Bear loves to walk through the forest looking for sweet, sticky honey and fresh berries to eat for its lunch.
- A funny Zebra looks just like a pretty horse, but it wears a special coat with bright black and white stripes! No two zebras have the exact same stripes.

3. Small Animals
Now, let us look down at the ground or inside our cozy houses. There are so many tiny, adorable animals in the world! Some animals are very small and completely harmless. Many of these little creatures are so sweet and gentle that we can keep them safely as our happy pets at home.
- A soft, cuddly Cat loves to take long, warm naps in the sunny windows and purrs happily when you gently pet its soft fur.
- A cute little Rabbit has two very long ears on its head, a fluffy little tail that looks like a cotton ball, and strong legs that help it hop, hop, hop all day!
- A tiny, squeaky Mouse has a little pink nose and long whiskers. It loves to eat yummy pieces of cheese and runs incredibly fast to hide in small spaces.
- A slow, sticky Snail is very special because it actually carries its hard little house right on its back! When it gets scared, it hides completely inside its shell.

A fluffy rabbit is a very small, hoppy animal that absolutely loves to eat crunchy orange carrots.
4. Farm Animals
Put on your boots, because we are taking a fun trip to the bright red barn! Farm animals live with kind farmers on big, wide farms. They are very friendly and they are super helpers! They help give us delicious things to eat and warm things to wear.
- A big, gentle Cow has funny black and white patches. It spends all day happily chewing green grass and gives us delicious, healthy white milk to drink.
- A silly Goat has little horns on its head and a funny little beard on its chin. Goats love to climb up high on big rocks and wooden fences.
- A strong, beautiful Horse has a long, swishy tail and loves to run super fast across the big open fields. Farmers can even ride on their backs!
- A chubby, pink Pig has a funny, curly little tail and a cute, flat nose. Pigs love to cool down on hot days by rolling around in squishy, wet mud puddles!
- A sweet, quiet Sheep is covered in thick, white, fluffy wool that looks just like a soft cloud in the sky. We use their wool to make nice warm sweaters for the winter.

5. Water Animals
Put on your swimming goggles and let us dive deep! Not all animals walk on the land. Many, many animals live underwater in cool rivers, deep lakes, and the giant, salty sea. They do not breathe air like we do, but they have special ways to breathe and swim smoothly under the water.
- A pretty, shiny Fish uses its bright, colorful fins to swim quickly through the cool water and makes funny little bubbles with its mouth.
- A funny little Crab has a hard shell and sharp little claws that go snip-snip! It is very silly because it walks entirely sideways across the sandy beach.
- A green Turtle has a very strong, hard shell on its back to stay safe. It uses its special flat legs to paddle and glide beautifully through the bright blue ocean water.
- A huge, grey Shark is a very fast swimmer! It has a big fin that sticks up from its back and loves to swim deep down in the salty sea water.
